Summary/Abstract: The study briefly discusses some articles that were published in Pest between 1810 and 1826 by the prominent representative of the 19th century Hungarian press, National and Foreign News. Through these articles, it is illustrated that certain essential connections regarding the Latin American wars of independence became available in print to part of the Hungarian society in that period. The published news indicates that the newspaper readers of Hungarian society were well-informed about the most important international events of the period, and their knowledge and political sensibility were enhanced in relation to the ideas of independence.
