Summary/Abstract: Hadith scholars, as members of their communities, contemplated their personal and social problems and tried to find out convenient and efficient solutions. Their solutions regarding these problems should be searched in their hadiths collections. They aimed to solve social problems and unbalanced social conditions and to progress moral values via education of hadith and sunnah. Therefore, they inscribed many books aiming these goals. This kind of approach and sensitivity can be observed in Nawawî’s very famous book, namely Riyad al-Salihin. This article is going to present Nawawî’s social, cultural and intellectual context. Therefore this study is going to clarify the background of his book. Then, the importance of Riyad al-Salihin’s systematic writing will be introduced from the perspective of personal and social education.
