Summary/Abstract: The study explores how Romain Gary reviews and rejects various moral attitudes in hisnovel The Roots of Heaven. His later novel The Kites sheds a new light at this novel from1956. A cross reading of both novels allows to show why, according to Gary, ideologiesare degenerating and what values remain unchanged.
