Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to analyze how St. Bonaventure of Bagnoregio presents the Order of Friars Minor and their rules. The text of the Legenda major and Legenda minor is compared with the early hagiographic works about Francis of Assisi. Reading these works in the light of the predicts of Bonaventure in honor of Saint Assissin allows a deeper understanding of the Friars Minor in the world of Friars Minor in the ongoing conflict over the role of the religious community in the Church. Bonaventure were sinks the focus of the Order of the XIIIth Lateran Council IV – to the stigmatization of Francis, which he presents as a miraculous confirmation of the Friars Minor by Christ himself.
