Summary/Abstract: Purpose – The main function of deposit banks is to mediate fund supply and demand. In this context, the most important sources of income of banks is interest income. In addition, in line with increasing competition and customer demands, banks provide many services other than deposit collection and loan. As a result, the income diversity of deposit banks increased. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of non-interest incomes on the financial performances of deposit banks. Design/methodology/approach – The scope of the study is the banking sector of Turkey. In this context, the 23 commercial banks operating in Turkey are defined as samples. The data set consists quarterly data of the banks, which is between the period 2007-2017. The Return of Asset (ROA) and Return of Equity (ROE) have selected as the dependent variables. In addition, the ratio of non-interest incomes of the banks to total incomes was used as an independent variable. In addition, various control variables were included in the analysis in order to reach more meaningful findings. Panel Data Analysis method has preferred since the data set has both unit and time dimensions. Results – The findings showed that the non-interest income level has a positive effect on both the return on assets and the return on equity. Discussion – The banking sector is growing day by day with increasing customer numbers and transaction volumes. The results of the study show that non-interest income items also have a significant impact on the financial performance of deposit banks. Providing various services in line with customer needs and satisfaction makes an important contribution to banks.
