Summary/Abstract: Purpose – Personnel empowerment can be defined as a managerial approach that enables employees to make independent decisions on issues related to their works by transferring authority and power to them. It has behavioral and psychological dimensions. Business performance can be defined as; all efforts to fulfill a task within the framework of pre-determined standards. It has task and contextual dimensions. The aim of this study is to determine the effects of empowerment perceptions on the employees' performance levels of employees that are working in food and beverage departments in Afyonkarahisar. Design/methodology/approach – Research population consists of the employees of the food and beverage division (service and kitchen) of the five-star hotel businesses in Afyonkarahisar province and Sandıklı district. As the data collection technique, survey method was used; 513 employees in 10 five star hotels in Afyonkarahisar and Sandıklı were participated in the survey. In the analysis of the data descriptive statistics, correlation, simple and multiple linear regression analyzes were conducted. Findings – As a result of the research, it was determined that employees' perceptions of empowerment and job performance are the medium level and above. However, as a result of correlation and regression analyzes, it was found that there was a positive, medium and high strength relationship between behavioral and psychological empowerment and task/context and overall work performance. Discussion – The results of the research reveal that the level of job performance will rise with the increase of employees' empowerment levels. Therefore, it can be said that strengthening the employees in the hotel enterprises where the performance of the employees is the determinant of service quality and customer satisfaction has a facilitating effect on reaching the intended goals. In addition, the strengthening and business performance concepts were discussed with all dimensions and the relationships between them were revealed. In this respect, it is thought that it will provide important contributions to hotel managers and related literature. This makes the present study different from other studies on this subject.
