Summary/Abstract: Cloud constitutes a paradigm shift in the provision of services for companies and private consumers. The beneficial effects for a wide range of IT outsourcing services is tempting and may provoke significant debate on the matter of intellectual property legislation, but also on technical, security and privacy matters. This study examines the applicable legal regulations that might be of interest especially considering the new data protection Directive 95/46/EC on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data (PII (US)) and on the free movement of such data.
