Summary/Abstract: High standards of ethics provide a higher quality of research and increase substantially its social impact. They promote research integrity and better alignment of research with community needs and expectations. The European Commission, guided by this goal, began the project “Information Society Technologies”, conducted by the Institute for study of the labor market, which is an attempt of possing a set of ethical and professional guidelines which would serve as a code for socioeconomic research across Europe, known as RESPECT . The author’s intention is to determine the current position and the application of code RESPECT in terms of the development of common international research space with a “transparent and universally harmonized standards”, ie. to see and examine the possibility and the reasons for (non) implementation of RESPECT on European soil.
