Summary/Abstract: The study aims to analyze the usage of metadiscourse markers in the persuasive texts produced by the students learning Turkish as a foreign language. The study used a descriptive survey model. Quantitative and qualitative methods were applied. The data for the study involves 30 persuasive written texts produced by the foreign students who are attending the Mersin University Turkish Application and Research Center. Drawing on Hyland (2005)’s metadiscourse classification the data were analyzed. Results reveal that there are some problems with the use of some metadiscourse markers in the texts. Therefore students can not produce coherent and cohesive persuasive texts.
