Summary/Abstract: The main purpose of this research article is to explore and investigate Spanish L2 learners´ beliefs about how English should best be learnt and taught in the classroom, with specific reference to several essential aspects of language teaching. In order to better understand how L2 teaching and learning actually happen in the classroom context, this exploratory study in which learners´pedagogical views are particularly examined allows us to analyse what learners actually believe and expect from their language classes. The main purpose of investigating learners' beliefs about L2 teaching is to find out whether learners hold unrealistic and/or erroneous beliefs about particular essential aspects of language teaching. The effects of particular teaching actions and/or classroom procedures on L2 learning outcomes are particularly analysed. Finally, several implications for teaching L2 are also discussed.
