Summary/Abstract: In the article I analyse the Polish translations of the letters by the leader of Diggers, Gerrard Winstanley, and indicate the untranslatability of key terms: commoners, the commons, commonwealth. These terms have as much vertical reference, regarding the position of commoners in reference to the People, as horizontal - related to the plebeian experienced world, rooted in the commons. Noticing these two references simultaneously helps see Winstanley as a theoretician of immanentistic plebeian politics, the purpose of which was to set free from the grasp of hierarchical political body and set up a self-organised body without authorities.
