Nacija or narod, Ukrainian or of Ukraine: towards conclusions?

Summary/Abstract: The article pertains to the discourse regarding the terms nacija and narod in modern Ukraine. In the years 1991-2014 Ukraine was a “work-in-progress” nation state. The processes of development of the modern version of the Ukrainian national identity were complex, there were many actors of opposing intentions. The provisions of the Constitution combined the ethnic and civic understanding of nation. The turn of 2014 seems to be favourable to the completion of a modern nation, more civic than ethnic.
