Summary/Abstract: The main problems that persons with visual impairment encounter on the open market are to find, keep and perform the work in the best possible way. Available researches on the situation of persons with visual impairment in the labor market are mainly related to the identification of barriers to employment these persons, attitudes of employers about the possibilities of overcoming obstacles and the use of certain assistive technology in the workplace. As the most important reasons for not hiring people with visual impairments employers cite limitations in performing tasks, their lack of knowledge on the work abilities of persons with visual impairment, the high costs of renovating the workplace and general complexity of demands that accompany those workplaces. In this paper we deal with basic problems faced by people with impaired vision in the open labor market.
