Summary/Abstract: The paper is based on Coseriu’s idea that language is at the core of consciousness - which, in return, influences the language. The triad language - reason - social activity has multiple interactions in nowadays socio-economic environment. Difficulties met in developing the terminology lists needed for translation and interpretation of management vocabulary led us to finding a dismantling of the economic language through arbitrary loans from English and French; also led to confusion and lack of conceptual specialisation (manager, director, gestionar, şef), lack of uniformity and terminology standardisation. After a detailed analysis of terms in English, French and Romanian, the paper suggests some solutions to standardize the economic vocabulary, which from the author’s point of view - starting from Coseriu’s theory - would lead to an improvement of management activity in Romania.
