Summary/Abstract: Stalin’s death was followed by changes in the Soviet leadership and policy which were applied immediately by the other socialist countries of Eastern Europe, including Albania. This article dwells exactly on these developments and the influence of the new Soviet policy in Albania compared to other Soviet satellite states. In Albania just like in the other countries Moscow policy was transmitted by direct messages or imitation spirit of what was happening in Moscow without direct intervention of the Soviets. Still, despite the changes, one thing remained constant for the whole camp: The leading role of the Soviet Union. The leaders of the satellite states were summoned to Moscow when they reported on the situation of their countries and took advice which was in fact orders. This article deals specifically with the question of economy, the new attitude toward Yugoslavia and the de-Stalinization. In some of the other countries during this period changes took place in the parties’ leadership, a movement which effected a lot the application of Moscow orders by the leaders of the Party of Labor of Albania. The main concern of the Albanian leaders remained how to keep their personal power and this approach shaped all the political developments in the country.
