Summary/Abstract: The present article The Language-culture Homology. The Play on Ambiguity in the Japanese Language and Culture proposes an interdisciplinary research meant to underline an essential characteristic of the Japanese language and culture: ambiguity. Starting from the acception of the term “homology”, our study explores and puts to trial a similarity of structure which can be identified in both Japanese language and culture. Ambiguity becomes the defining feature of the Japanese cultural model and, implicitly, of the Japanese language and its textual peculiarities. Consequently, we believe any type of exploration, be it cultural or linguistic, should start from the ambiguity dominant of the Japanese cultural and linguistic code.
