Summary/Abstract: Ebû Mansûr al-Mâturîdî is a very prominent place in Orthodox Islam. He responded to the people who raised many objections to the orthodox Islamic creed. Especially he dealt with the questions of the Muteziletes. Although he is a wel-known theologian, he is also distinguished scholar in Qur’ânic exegesis. Ta’wîlât al-Qu’rân is his famous work on the Qur’ân. He used both the reports and reason in his exegesis and become an important example for later commentators. In this article we concentrate on his methodology in the interpretation of the Qur’ân.
