Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to explore the reasons and the need for the construction of the first village school in the Livno area. The paper follows the development of the school and its operation through stormy and less stormy times of our past and presents the facts about the first teachers and the number of pupils from its foundation up to now. For the sake of a more integral and more complete understanding of the overall educational/pedagogic circumstances, one has also considered social/political and economic circumstances in which the school was founded and operated. The first village school in the Livno area and the teachers who laid down the foundations for the literacy of the inhabitants of this area are the unavoidable tiny part of the education history heritage in the overall mosaic of the history of the educational system in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and as such they should be explored and preserved from oblivion.
