Summary/Abstract: LINGUOCULTUROLOGICAL STATUS OF THE LEXEME STONEIn this paper the language units were analyzed in order to present a language picture of nature. The lexeme “stone” was selected: its polysemantic structure was examined, based on lexicographic and psycholinguistic meaning, and also the terminological word combinations, as well as phraseology (for example, plavi kamen, bacati na koga drvlje i kamenje) were also considered. The analysis shows that the meaning of the examined units is developed in two ways: 1. by the action of cognitive mechanisms, primarily of perception, i.e. observing the corresponding natural characteristics of the stone, which motivate the emergence of terminological expressions and phraseologisms; 2. under the influence of cultural elements, such as rituals, beliefs, symbols, etc., which are part of the mythological representations of stone.
