Summary/Abstract: In the article an analysis of the very special economic & social structure of the Russian state in the period from early 1930-ties till the end of 1980-ties is provided. The social structure in Russia was at that time based on hierarchical homogenetic state government supported by excessively nationalized economy with a decisive mechanism highly centralized. The system because of the small elite segment of society holding political & economic power was named an oligarchic rule, and was becoming less & less efficient. The enquiry performed shows that with the passage of time the system has become, as concerns the field of economy, less & less efficient, and – as concerns the field of politics - it hampered the progress and changes in social relations. In the mid 80-ties the system plunged in crisis and collapsed. Market economic bonds emerged, and because of absence of tradition molding out natural development of social relations, these economic bonds adopted criminal & mafia attributes. The response of the Russian state at the turn of the 20th & 21st century is illustrative of an attempt to reconstruct the oligarchic rule with some elements of economy privatized in an unconventional manner. The experience under our investigation proves, however, that no ground for future development is provided. In the opinion of the Author the option concentrating on the so-called mixed society with elimination of autocratic elements and a combination of a democratic state with the institutions of the civil society is a possible solution.
