Summary/Abstract: Emotions such as stress, depression, anxiety, cynicism and burnout are frequently seen in the correctional officers due to their work conditions. In this study, the resources used by CO's to cope with negative conditions were reviewed and their need for spiritual support was tried to determine. The sample of the study consists of 10 CO’s who came to Muş Alparslan University for pedagogical formation training. Interviews with semi-structured questions were asked to determine the ways in which CO’s cope with negative conditions, their spiritual orientation and their needs. The data were evaluated by descriptive analysis and content analysis. According to the findings, family and environment are external sources of coping. Hobbies and worship eg. are the sources of individual (internal, emotional) coping. Although perceived support has positive effects on coping, it has been found that there is a need to increase spiritual resources. Their lack of job dignity and bad relations with inmates lead to them negative feelings and thoughts. Positive relations-hips with prisoners give meaning and purpose to the work. According to these results; support/care programs to be created with spiritual concepts such as being valuable and forgiveness to help develop self-esteem and to organize positive relations with prisoners have been proposed.
