Summary/Abstract: The subject of the article are examples of preventive censorship interference by the Regional Office for Control of Press, Publications and Public Performances in „Tygodnik Powszechny” between 1957–1961. The study attempts to answer the following questions: to what degree did the Regional Office for Control of Press, Publications and Public Performances (later: WUKPPiW) in Kraków interfere with the content of „Tygodnik Powszechny”?; in what way did the editorial office try to obtain greater freedom from WUKPPiW?; how did the relations between WUKPPiW and the weekly look like between 1957–1961? The basic source material of the article are reports from preventive controls, available in the Main Office for Control of Press, Publications and Public Performances (later: GUKPPiW) stored in the Archive of Modern Records (later: AAN).
