SHAPING THE EUROPEAN COMMON SECURITY AND DEFENCE IDEA IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE 20th CENTURY

Summary/Abstract: Perceived rather as a consequence of the “European idea” implementation, integration in the field of security and defence was pushed in the background of the European construction, being legally regulated only in the last decade of the 20th century. The present study aims to analyse how the European security and defence idea emerged in the second half of the 20th century in relation to the development of the European construction process, and also in relation to the developments in the European and international political environment.
