The Problem of Quasi-Personal Constructions

Summary/Abstract: Along the present study I try to scrutinize a group of language phenomena which I defined as ‘quasi-impersonal’ because they bear close resemblance to impersonal constructions in modern Bulgarian language. In a number of recent studies, I have discussed the essence of impersonality from the perspective of the Theory of Functional- semantic Fields developed by A. Bondarko. Hereby I make a formal comparison between both impersonal and quasi-impersonal formations and draw a conclusion about their resemblance that is driven by various internal factors and hence they should be distinguished from each other by means of definition.
