Summary/Abstract: Scientific terms often derive from common words, and, while they may function as metaphors or analogies when transfered into other languages or to other language levels, they undergo a series of linguistic adaptations that lead to specific lexical fluctuations. French and English are the two main sources to generate the Romanian scientific vocabulary; they sometimes come to form sets of words that stand for the same concept. This is especially the case of the most recent terms, but, at the same time, some older definitions still feature two different lexical structures. This problem may be solved once the term is translated (not transcripted) into Romanian and the source-language for the terms in cause is definitely set and maintained.
