Summary/Abstract: In this research we have tried to find out whether the accuracy of recognizing facial expressions of emotions can be predicted on the basis of personality traits. We used the Big Five Inventory of personality for assessment of personality traits (neuroticism, extroversion, consciousness, openness to experience and agreeableness) and most used base of pictures for assessing facial expression of emotions Japanese and Caucasian Facial Expressions of Emotion. Using the sample of 145 students in total from the Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Technical sciences in Kosovska Mitrovica, both sexes, results gained are as follows: It is determined that Neuroticism, Extroversion and Consciousness are predictors of exact recognition of certain negative emotions. More precisely, our results point to the fact that persons with highly exposed inclination to experience negative emotions (Neuroticism) are very successful in recognizing emotions such as anger, despising and disgust. Persons with high extroversion easily transfer attention from themselves to the objects in the surroundings in which they fit relatively easily and are more successful in recognition of emotions of disgust. Also, conscious, reliable, scrupulous, persons determined towards an aim, strong willed are more sensitive to non-verbal signs by other people.
