Summary/Abstract: In his feature Tomas Halik, a Czech priest, writes about the way in which it is dealt with the communist regime in the Czech Republic after the Velvet Revolution. The author calls this system transformation “an unfinished revolution” because the act of reconciliation was replaced by a one-off act of forgiveness. The article warns both against “witch-hunt” as a solution of the problem of the ex-collaborators with the regime’s secret service and against confusing the reconciliation with making light of the guilt. According to Father Halik, the road to healing of the society runs between the two extremes: revenge and silence about the truth. He also underlines that the social transformation must be followed by the spiritual one.
