The Catholic church and pacifism

Summary/Abstract: Dominican Maciej Zięba describes in his piece the concept of pacifism, its genesis, definitions and different types. He introduces the reader to the positive results of this social-political movement but first of all he exposes the negative effects of pacifism. The article shows the dangerous aspects of the pacifist attitude and the discrepancy between this movement and the teaching of the Catholic church, although the both seem to harmonize with each other. Recalling the words of the Pope John Paul II, Maciej Zięba states that the pacifist attitude, in the form moulded throughout the centuries, should not be connected with the Christian attitude.
