Justice or mercy – facing the wrong choice

Summary/Abstract: The article concerns a very important issue of the Catholic church’s understanding of justice, mercy and treason, and how they evolved throughout the time. In the interview with a Dominican Jacek Salij the author explains how the communist secret service kept the church under surveillance and how it is nowadays attempted to clean up the church after those experiences. The influence of some priests’ cooperation with the communist authorities on the church’s credibility is also analysed. The author believes the church itself should try to clarify all such issues dating back to the communist days.
