Summary/Abstract: In the interview with Marek Cichocki Joachim Gauck, German evangelical pastor, describes how Christianity influences our understanding of politics. He talks about it form the perspective both of the priest and an official, former head of the Office of the Federal Commissioner Preserving the Records of the Ministry for State Security of the GDR. He claims the division of state and religion is possible but not trouble-free. The interview concerns also the issues of decommunization and dealing with the communist authorities and officials of the East Germany regime after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Gauck talks about the meaning of justice which cannot be revenge and underlines that the moral reconciliation is not possible without having the legal justice done.
