Summary/Abstract: The Lower Danube area was part of the Romanian front that separated, through the Siret line, the two belligerent camps: the Romanians and the Russians on the north of Siret river. In January 1918, there was a conflict between the former Allies, Romanians and Russians, from which the Germans benefited. This study presents the fights in Galati and their effects upon the occupied Brăila, using unpublished historical sources (the memoirs of German general Robert Kosch and photographs).
