Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the concept of “Old Russian literature after Ancient Rus”. The material of the spiritual testament of the Old Believer Bishop Gerontius, written in the XX century, shows the deep connections of the Old Believers’ works of the new time with the monuments of Old Russian literature, its motifs, subjects and genres, as well as with its artistic techniques. The spiritual testaments of the Russian church hierarchs from between the XV and the XVII centuries, the prayer texts of Theodosius of the Caves, and the messages of the Archpriest Avvakum are found in the artistic subtext of the testament and sermon of Gerontius. This is a manifestation of the living connection between the Old Believers’ literature and the Russian cultural tradition.
