Summary/Abstract: This article discusses the limits of openness of state action in the sphere of enacting and implementinglaw during the period of the Duchy of Warsaw. As a result of the actions taken, theauthor intends to find answers to questions related to the policy of informing citizens and theirpossibilities of finding information on the functioning of the state during this period of Polishhistory. The research was carried out by conducting a source query and analysis of the sourcesof law of the historical period of the years 1807-1815. In the main part of the work the authordefines the bodies responsible for creating the law, then discusses individual governmentpublications such as the Dziennik Praw (Journal of Laws) and publications published in individualdistricts of the country (departments). The starting point for the research undertaken isto discuss the policy of disseminating the content of the law also in the unconstitutional period,before the first copies of the government press were issued. The content of publications wasanalyzed, with particular emphasis on the main topics that appeared, e.g. the justification forthe introduction of the Napoleon Code and its practical analysis. Finally, niche topics likehounds or tips are presented.
