Summary/Abstract: From the school year 2012-2013 due to the introduction of the preparatoryclass, in Romania the compulsory school was enlarged to 11 years. The aim of this was to makechildren’s schooling smootherandeasier.The aim of this paper is to present the opinions of theHungarian teachers working in primary, regarding this step. In order to give a vivid view of thesubject, we present first some characteristic features of the Romanian school system in general, thenwe analyze the benefits and drawbacks of the introduction of the preparatory class all these based onthe answers of the teachers.During the research we used on-line questionnaires among the teachersfrom Kovaszna county(N=134).The outcome of the research shows that this procedure was mostlysuccessful among most of theteachersbut it hasnot fulfilled all the expectations so far.
