Summary/Abstract: Health is a necessary condition for school achievements and quality of life. It functions in many sciences and is defined in a variety of aspects. The concept of health is evolving and, consequently, the activities to protect it is changing, too. The objective of this article is to analyze how the youngest school pupils understand health and whether it is perceived by them as a precious value. Children’s understanding of the concept of health is an important issue from the point of view of socialization and educational practice. First, health must be a value that is noticed, understood, accepted, internalized and actualized in order it can be a motivating factor to undertake activities to maintain and improve it. Therefore, it is essential to examine the way children think about health. Recognizing health as a value is an element that forms the educational situation and is a basis for planning and realization of health education.
