Summary/Abstract: The aim of this text is to give a survey of legal aspects of generic domain names and the disputes that result from a bad faith registration of this type of domain names. There is a special focus on the two most used types of proceedings which are the administrative proceeding based on the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP), and the special federal act of the United States of America, the Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act (ACPA). There is also a comparison of both methods.
