Summary/Abstract: The research of peer violence, especially the causes that lead to it, has a great scientific significance for pedagogy. This significance, apart from the possibility to develop different models of peer violence prevention, is particularly concerned with reducing the gap between theoretical and practical knowledge, but also in identifying new methodological approaches to peer violence research. In the focus of the paper, the author puts the problem of methodological approach to peer violence research. Former knowledge of peer violence, whether through theoretical study and / or empirical research, is not questionable. The disadvantage is particularly manifested in the fact that researchers mostly describe the condition and the consequences and fail to discover the causes that lead to peer violence. It is therefore the aim of the paper to address theoretical-methodological problems in peer violence research, as well as to point out the methodological possibilities in the scientific improvement of the research of this problem. The research results show that there is a certain gap between the theory and the educational practice in pedagogical science, which significantly reduces the possibility of more exact research of educational phenomena in general, hence of peer violence. Peer violence research achieves considerably better pedagogical effects by applying interviews and action research.
