Summary/Abstract: The article presents the influence of philosophical and sociological concepts on the emergence of constructivism. Then it reviews the constructivist theories, assuming that they provide to the Bruno Latour's Actor-Network Theory. Considerations regarding the concept of ANT focus on the problem of the status of social phenomena. The problem was presented in the perspective of the anti-dualistic "ANT ontology" and the value of the explanatory cognitive categories, particulary "networks" and "actors". This is an attempt to answer the question how the concept of ANT explains the phenomena so far addressed from the perspective of various scientific disciplines. The article describe possibilities of using constructivism in research on modernity.
