Summary/Abstract: Deviations in the media system of Bosnia and Herzegovina are caused by many factors, and above all by national-political action. Deviations relate to the information system itself, but also to media workers who greatly contribute to the deviation of information by their unprofessional attitude towards the title and disrespect of the ethical and legal rules of the profession. This paper aims to present the current state of implementation of professional and ethical standards in the Bosnian press and online media with a special focus on the audience as (in)active participants in the whole process. In addition to this, the aim of the paper is to present to media publications the rules of conduct of those who mediate in the transmission of information, and for the purpose of educating them, so that they can adequately respond to the deviations that arise as a result of the unprofessional relationship of media workers. In 1999, a codex was adopted by all the Association of Journalists in BiH, and it was amended several times by the Press Council in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in consultation with the Association of Journalists in BiH. The above-mentioned code will be the basis for presenting the argument for and against in terms of the deviant activities of journalists on the flow of information and the social developments in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The need to act in the direction of educating media audiences is the basis of this work and, by the very act of media literacy, prevents manipulation and social deviation caused by misinformation.
