Summary/Abstract: Mirko Kosić was one of the most prominent scholars of the Serbian sociological scene during the time of peace, in-between two world wars. But for the sociological scholars’ community of contemporary Serbia, this sociologist, who published a great number of scientific articles, as well as a textbook for sociology, is rather unrecognized, and most of the scholars are not familiar with his name and work. It should be noted that Kosić was the one who established and worked as the editor-in-chief of the Social Life – one of the first social science journals in Serbia. In this context, the aim of the text is to illuminate the author’s theoretical and methodological standpoint and his opinion on sociology as an independent social science, as well as to define the goals of sociology in the light of Mirko Kosić’s work.
