Summary/Abstract: This paper presents theoretical background of assertive training, and describes implementation and evaluation of program “Ja sam Ok, Ti si Ok” in work with group of inmates from Detention and Rehabilitation Centre Bijeljina. As target group for program 10 inmates have been selected from convicts for violence criminal acts category, recidivists, and disciplinary treated person. The overall goal of the program was defined as development and training of socioemocional skills, assertiveness and inmates problem solving. Also, by using this approach the aim was to contribute to fulfillment of purpose execution of criminal sanctions, constructive use of leisure, maintenance of discipline in prison and preparation of inmates for free life in community.Comparative data of pre and pos-testing of participants, their contentment with all aspects of the program and stance of personal benefit, makes program “Ja sam Ok, Ti si Ok” example of positive penal practice which needs to be continuously implemented and improved in the future.
