Summary/Abstract: In this paper we deal with the problem of institutional treatment of addicts on psychoactive substances, with particular reference to the treatment of this population within penal institutions. Addiction treatment is a complex process that involves different phases and activities, and a multidisciplinary approach to this problem. We will briefly outline the most common forms of addiction that we encounter in our environment, as well as the methods and forms of overworking with dependents who are serving prison sentences. In this paper we will also look at our own experience in treating addicts on psychoactive substances that have served the prison sentence in our institution, as well as the difficulties we encounter in everyday work in this field.
