Summary/Abstract: The paper analyses the media discourse that followed „The Oak Case“, in which a tree had got in the way of a new highway under construction, the future Belgrade – South Adriatic motorway (Corridor 11). The oak tree, which bore a religios inscription (zapis) and was about six centuries old, was a subject of media and political attention from June 2013 to August 2015. The main media discourses (national-traditionalistic, religious, progressive, pro-Western civil and ecological) have been identified and analysed. Their mutual relationship and institutional basis have also been scrutinized. Attention is also paid to the politicization of the case, while seeking to shed some light on the wide range of meanings and values connected to it.
