Summary/Abstract: The two most important groups of people in prison are the prisoners and the staff who care for them. The key to a good prison management lies in the nature of the relationship between these two groups of people. Prisons typically can not choose the prisoners, they must accept all those who had been sent by a court or legal authority. But we must take care of the staff: to be carefully selected, trained, supervised and to provide technical and professional support in response to serious and specific work conditions. For this reason, this work will be focused on problems encountered by the penological staff employed in the correctional institutions.
