Summary/Abstract: The present crisis of the Yugoslav socity has confirmed the conclusion that it is a society at the cross - road , where from there is no one way alone, i. e. only that which is conceptualized as a specific Yugoslav model of selfgovernment, Devolution is also a real possibility. The analysis of the basic contradictions of the Yugoslav society is thus a necessary step towards an understanding of the reasons for the disfunctioning of the system, so as to reveal the hidden and not yet exhausted potential for social change.
