Summary/Abstract: Starting his literary career diffidently with the „nouvelette” „The Violin”, signed by St. Bârzu, in the „Literary Event” (1893, no. 2, of 27 December), Constantin Stere did not announce himself a prose writer of note. But his exclusion from the field of political struggles made him decide to write his memories. However, his memories were too personal and did not allow him to give a profound exposition of political, historical, identic and social nuances. He also confessed that, in his opinion, memories should be published long after the author`s demise so as not to anger the contemporaries referred to. The temper, vindictiveness made him turn to the Romanian genre, and thus, in the Romanian literature appeared the novel-stream „On the Revolution Eve”.
