Summary/Abstract: In the course of the last fifteen years there has been evidence of a growing interest in social change and in social development on the part of the school of sociological thought in the F.R. of Germany, which is influenced by American sociology and more especially by the latters' functionalist theories. Collective works, articles, studies and monographies are published with the aim of contributing to a better understanding of the major problems, theoretical notions and research methods.
