Summary/Abstract: None of the numerous sciences and disciplines remain silent concerning the impact of the new technologies on the fields of knowledge: from communication theory to physics, from sociology to theatre and film, from ethnography to chemistry or cardiovascular surgery. Neither pedagogy, nor journalistic academic education make an exception to this rule. This paper deals with two realities: the old and the new university and their specific didactic rhetorics, both at a crossroads, under the pressure of an extremely challenging rhythm of change. Based on my direct experience with teaching journalism in a university, the paper approaches this change of paradigm: from the idea of classroom learning, to the idea of lifelong learning, to the idea of efficiency and the relation between information and knowledge, a potential similarity between a new pedagogy determined by the new technologies and the mass-media system, and, last but not least, a rewriting of the old maieutics in contemporary context.
