Summary/Abstract: The article presents the attitude shown by non-disabled people towards those with disabilities in categories of relations between the stronger majority and weaker minority. This is a proposal constituting another elaboration of the cultural understanding of disability in the context of the concept of the direction of cultural adaptation. The paper’s narrative tackles the problem of limited participation by disabled persons in common areas of social functioning, embracing such as the family, work, art and learning. These deliberations relate, among other things, to contemporary concepts of intercultural psychology, provoking questions about the necessity for changing the interpretation of one’s cultural contexts in a situation involving the coexistence of persons representing different cultures in shared time and space.
