SOCIOLOGY OF INEQUALITY AND POVERTY

Summary/Abstract: This paper has as its goal to point to the need and justification for research on the problem of poverty and inequality in the domain of sociology. On that basis, the necessity is indicated of forming a special scientific discipline, whose subject will be issues of poverty and inequality in contemporary societies. Thus, the basic knowledge on the justification of this discipline is presented, as well as on its main contents, methodological approaches, and then a review of the historical development of the phenomena mentioned.
